It is also why you should regularly check each one of them frequently. Having a headache, dry nose, or earache can be a very annoying and sometimes painful experience. It can even affect your job performance, family life, and overall happiness. This blog will show you a few quick and easy ways to check yourself on a regular basis and help your doctor diagnose if you have an infection of some sort.
Pain. The first and most obvious thing you notice with infections is pain. This could be in the form of a dry, itchy, swollen, or a rough feeling in the suspect area. Pain does not immediately mean you have an infection, though.
- Reduction in Senses. When you are cooking bacon in the morning and you can hardly smell a thing, you may be experiencing a reduction in your senses, which may also be a sign that points towards infection. If you experience a loss of sense for more than 24 hours, you should contact your ENT specialist to be sure that an infection isn’t brewing.
- Very thick, excessive, or discolored mucus. Your mucus is an easy sign to tell if you already have an infection. If you cough and sneeze and the color is anything other than a healthy light-green or if it is brown or white, you are likely to have an infection of some sort.
- Blocked or Full sensation in the ears or nose. Having a blocked or full sensation in the ears or nose, or a swollen sensation are telltale signs that you have an infection of some sort which could be potentially getting worse. If this sensation comes for a day and lingers to the next morning, you should contact your local ENT doctor for an appointment.
- Allergies. Allergies are not an infection of any sort, but definitely give off the symptoms and the same uncomfortable feeling associated with infections. If you experience cold like symptoms for extended periods of time or in a particular season, you could have seasonal allergies. Coping with seasonal allergies is easier now than it used to be a decade ago. Call or visit Central Park ENT to schedule an appointment with any one of our experienced doctors.
